Looking for made to last gazebos ?
When looking for a gazebo that is made to last the good news is that
depending on your definition of “made to last,” any search should not be very difficult. While there
are many different types of gazebos and several different materials that are used in construction, every type of
gazebo (even the cheapest ones) are designed to last for long periods of time. Even the cheapest ones should
be able to last for several years with minimal need of maintenance.
The most common type of lumber used for gazebos is cedar. Cedar is a wood
with a well-deserved reputation for strength, durability, and natural rot resistance. It has been a popular
choice for builders and construction workers for generations. Cedar has been used for roofing and shingles,
fences, fence posts, planking for small boat hulls and, of course, for outdoor furniture.
With this type of durability, it really is no surprise that cedar was a natural
choice to use for gazebos. Gazebos made of cedar are made to last gazebos. Department of Agriculture
statistics will claim that a cedar fence post will last up to 16 years in the ground. If a gazebo built of
cedar is left out in the open year round, all 365 days a year, it will last a minimum of eight to ten years.
This is even more amazing when you consider that these statistics are for cedar gazebos whose wood is completely
untreated and uncovered through out the year, as well. Cedar that is brought inside, covered, or protected
through winter will last twice that long, giving it up to a twenty year life span before needing
maintenance.
What makes these numbers even more impressive is that cedar gazebos are made of
natural material, and therefore are actually more prone to rot and damage than other gazebos. Other common
materials used for gazebos include white vinyl, aluminum, PVC,
aluminum, and even steel frame. All of these are designed to last for long periods of time (usually
many many years) with very little, or even no, maintenance at all.
White vinyl gazebo spa covers are built to last. These models include an
aluminum support system that is the envy of basic engineering. Another alternate for spa gazebos is
white PVC vinyl. These structures always look new (a nice bonus), are virtually maintenance free, and
last for many years.
There are also the steel frame gazebos and the very durable aluminum spa
gazebo. These are usually painted, as paint offers much more pleasant colors than metal, and these last many
decades with very little upkeep. All of these models are made to last and will add a beauty and
elegance to your property that will remain for years, and even decades to come. Whether you choose cedar,
PVC, vinyl, aluminum, or steel, you can be assured
that whatever product you receive will be durable, and very few things improve the landscape of a piece of
property like a made to last gazebo.
