Looking for steel screened gazebos ?

Steel screened gazebos are a newer appearance into the gazebo world, taking their place alongside the timber and aluminum frames.  Steel screened gazebos can vary greatly.  The most basic steel gazebos, with open sides, can be as cheap as a couple hundred dollars, but these will be little more than moveable areas of portable shade, without decoration or polish, and without enclosure.  Some much more developed examples go the other way, as there are steel screened gazebos

One of the most obvious advantages of steel screened gazebos is the lack of maintenance that is required.  Since the frame is made of steel, weather is not going to batter it down.  It is stronger than PVC, PVC Vinyl, or cedar wood, and therefore also has a much longer life span.  A steel screen is not only more likely to last period, but it is also likely to go an extremely long time without needing maintenance of any kind.  This is certainly a distinctive advantage, especially to a busy household.

The cheapness of these gazebos also shows a large shift and change from the historical place that gazebos held in the history of the United States.  Gazebos did not gain popularity here until the mid-1800’s, with the prosperity of the new middle class.  Gazebos were built because there simply was no denying the advantage of having a quiet place to retreat to from the household chaos.  Gazebos were also status symbols, showing the wealth, importance, and affluence of that particular individual or family.  Today things have changed.  Gazebos are now much more affordable and are appearing in homes, on properties, and in gardens all across the nation.

The choices available now are amazing, as well.  Steel screened gazebos can be round, square, octagonal, or rectangular.  They can be very small or impressively large, simple and plain, or colorful, detailed, and ornate.  These gazebos can be elegant, suggesting an old aristocracy, or rustic and woodsy (though obviously this is much harder to achieve with the steel screened gazebos!) or quite literally almost anything else that one can dream.

If you are looking for a more rustic, out-in-the-woods type of look, you should probably consider a log or cedar design.  If the purpose of your gazebo is for a large impressive garden, don’t be scared of by the steel screen.  These can be painted many different colors, designed in almost any way you can imagine, and be custom made to fit into your garden in any way, shape, or form that you please.  In fact, depending on the type of garden you have, the steel screened gazebo may actually be the best choice because of the colors it can display such as light blue with white trim.  A fully screened in gazebo may be the perfect compliment to a large diverse flower garden when the cedar versions, as beautiful and elegant as they are, simply do not fit in.  So don’t discount the steel models without taking a serious look at pictures of how they can appear.  You might be pleasantly surprised.
